The Chocolate Book Tag

With thanks to the lovely Dre at Sporadic Reads, I've been tagged in the Chocolate Book Tag. So without delay...

Dark Chocolate

A book that covers a dark topic.

The Sky is Everywhere

It deals with the death of a family member and one girl's struggle to grieve and move on to find happiness once more. It's beautifully tragic and loved this one even more so than The Fault in our Stars. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a deep and thought provoking young adult contemporary.

White Chocolate

Your favourite light hearted / humorous read.

The Year Nick McGowan came to Stay

This book is brilliant. I can't remember ever having laughed so much. It's set in Australia in 1989 and the pop culture references are a walk down memory lane. I just asked the Psychic Lettuce what my future holds, and it said, 'You will live alone with sixty guinea pigs. And they will all be called Peter.' It's snort out loud funny.

Milk Chocolate

A book that has a lot of hype that you’re dying to read.

Talon

I hope this one comes with a textured cover. It's so simple, yet incredibly pretty. I loved Julie Kagawa's Blood of Eden series and knowing her obsession with dragons, no doubt this will be incredible.

Chocolate with a caramel center

Name a book that made you feel all gooey in the middle while reading.

American Girl on Saturn

I absolutely adored American Girl On Saturn. It was funny, charming and boytatsic. Fans of boy bands will love this one, where young adult readers will fall in love with the boys from Spaceships Are Saturn.

Wafer Free Kit Kat

Name a book that surprised you lately.

Fire and Flood

I'm a big fan of Victoria Scott, but the few reviews I'd read for this one weren't so favourable. I loved it. That's pretty typical of me, I always seem to enjoy the books others don't. Soon after my review, I was inducted into the Victoria Scott street team. Hooray!

Snickers

A book that you are going nuts about.

The Winner's Curse

This book was spectacular! My only regret is that I should have read it sooner. I'm not usually a fan of anything historical, and honestly, I had no idea it was even after I finished reading it. It's my first completely in love with book of the year.

Hot Chocolate with marshmallows

What book would you turn to for a comfort read?

Anna and the French Kiss

It's one of the first contemporary romances I loved, I swooned and now seek out books set in Paris. It begun my secret affair with light and fluffy romances and it's always one I recommend to readers who are after a feel great read.

Box of Chocolates

What series have you read that you feel has a little something for everyone?

Chasing The Valley

Little known Aussie series, Chasing The Valley. Two books currently out so far, with the third installment due this July. I loved it. It mixes fantasy, dystopian, science fiction, romance and magic. If you're looking for a blended series that will appeal to everyone, this one is it.

Who I'm tagging...

  1. Such a great post, Kelly! I love the idea behind this tag, so thank you for tagging me! :)

I've been thinking about reading The Sky is Everywhere for a while, so I might have to pick it up sooner rather than later now that you've featured it in a post. I looove 'snort-out-loud' books, so I'll definitely be checking out The Year Nick McGowan Came to Stay!

Talon would be even amazing if it came with a textured cover! I have yet to read any Julie Kagawa books, but I definitely think I'm going to start her Blood of Eden trilogy soon. The synopsis for Talon has be intrigued, I must admit.

I've heard that Fire and Flood is like The Hunger Games and Pokemon put together? Because that would be AMAZING! However, even if it isn't, this is yet another book that I want to read soon and that you've got me more excited for.

I received The Winner's Curse in the mail today and oh. My. God. It's gorgeous. It sounds amazing and knowing how much you and Katie enjoyed it makes me even more excited for it!

    1. Oh Ebs, I can;t even begin to describe how much I loved The Winner's Curse. It's still early, but it's THE book of 2014. I can't wait to see what you think of it and your book tag answers, it's really tricky when put on the spot.

    1. Thanks Jeann. I probably didn't leave her much choice other to let me join. But fan of her work. Chasing the Valley is brilliant. If you wait until two months, the third book in the series will be out and you can read all three.

  6. THIS IS BRILLIANT. I looove love love your choices here. Totally agreeing with you on Anna and the French Kiss, and also American Girl on Saturn. That truly ignited my inner fangirl. Because, you know, I'm hardly EVER fangirly-ish.

    1. Of course not. In all the time I've known you, you're a very sensible and non fangirl young lady. Not even the MOTH gets you squealing and gushing.

American Girl on Saturn was brilliant. I loved it madly. I recommend it to anyone who's looking for a feel good comedy or likes boy bands.

    1. I can't wait until you pick it up Amanda, it's absolutely brilliant. Fire & Flood is one of my favorites of 2014 so far, I know it's had so many mixed reviews, but I love the action and it certainly had it in abundance. Will be looking out for your review.

  9. I loved Anna And The French Kiss too! It's a good book to turn to if you're looking for a light book that will make you swoon and feel love at the same time.
There's something I noticed with your list, they all have pretty covers! I think I added everything on my TBR list :P

  10. I picked up some great book recommendations from this post - I really need to read 'The Sky is Everywhere' and 'The Year Nick McGowan came to Stay'. I LOVED 'The Winner's Curse' too! (it's great to find other booklovers out there who share the same excitement for books that I'm fangirling about as well :)

  15. I haven't read any of the books on your list except for The Year Nick McGowan Came to Stay + Anna and the French Kiss.
Rebecca Sparrow is just as hilarious in real life, trust me! I've seen her speak so many times over the years (she's a Brisbane author), and I love her. She's awesome ;D
I don't love Anna and the French Kiss as much as everybody else does, but I read it when it first came out (which was a while ago), so I think I want to give it another read. I had different tastes back then!
