I'm Pimpin' Y'all Out

This week I plan hiding in the bushes and stalking:

Publisher Paperbacks

Breaking Butterflies by M. Anjelais and The Last Thirteen: Seven by James Phelan (not pictured), both with thanks to Scholastic Australia. I'm excited to read Breaking Butterflies especially, it's been described as a twisted relationship that pushes the boundaries of young adult contemporary. The author was said to be only eighteen when it was written. I've seen warnings that I might need tissues with this one.
Head of The River by Pip Harry. When UQP sends me a book, I already know that I'll love it. They only seem to publish thought provoking young adult novels, and this one looks like it'll be a winner. A private school, performance enhancing drugs. Unique and looking forward to getting stuck into it.
The Diviners by Libba Bray looks awesome. Set in the twenties in New York, a teen psychic and her band of friends on the hunt for a serial killer. Thank you to my lovely little cake addicts at Allen and Unwin.

Purchased Paperbacks

I need to stop spending. My book addiction has now reached epic proportions. These are the ones I picked up in store, and waiting for twenty five books to be delivered from both The Big W book sale, which Jeann alerted me to, and from Booktopia who had a sale on classics. There may be a few big competitions coming shortly. All of these I've read, apart from The Intern, and wanted to add to my collection. Rather than link the titles, just search them on Goodreads, I'm going to be super lazy this week.

  1. There's some seriously nice looking covers this week - but everything coherent I was about to say just went out of the window because you have a copy of Through The Looking Glass, illustrated by Chris Riddell and I. DO. NOT.

*runs off to go buy a copy immediately*

    1. It's just FABULOUS Vickie! I'm really getting stuck into the classics lately and there's far too many different classic titles of each book, it's been hard to choose. Thanks for visiting.

  2. You've bought such great books! I know the feeling, I spend way too much on books, but I love book shopping almost as much as reading, so I don't think I can ever stop!

    1. Book shopping, there's nothing quite like it. Even shopping for books online, I just can't seem to help myself. We really need a support network Lavender. Thanks for popping by.

    1. It was funny, I was looking at the cover when it arrived, but it wasn't until I posted my haul that I realised that the butterfly on the cover, is actually two teens on the outer edges. Can you see them? Super clever.

  4. Thank you for linking to me, lovely! I AM HAVING A BIRTHDAY AND IT IS FABULOUS.
I just added Breaking Butterflies to my TBR because it sounds incredibly intriguing. And I love that cover for The Diviners! I have heard so many amazing things about that novel, so hopefully you love it as much as everyone else :D
Unfortunately by the time I got to the Big W sale all the books were gone D: But it seemed like you got some amazing deals, Kelly! ^.^
Also, those covers for the Alice books are adorable.

  6. So, The Intern grabbed me on cover alone. And I keep seeing The Diviners everywhere. I feel like it may be trying to tell me something.

Slammed looks fairy tale like, which I'm not a fan of. But I may look into this one.

    1. Oh no, Slammed is a Colleen Hoover book. It's a mix of young and new adult, but incredible. She's a brilliant writer.

  7. Sorry to gush but I am sooo happy that you got Slammed and Point of Retreat, these two are one of the best books I've read ever! Happy reading Kelly! :D

    1. Me too Jules! I read these quite a while ago, but had only bought them in Kindle format. Being the big Colleen Hoover fan that I am, I see them in one of the local department stores and just had to grab them. She's just brilliant isn't she.

  8. Woah 25 books from the Big W sale and Booktopia?! That's a looooota books! I just got two haha. I wish shipping was free, because then it'd only be four bucks. Hot damn, they were cheap.
I need to get around to reading The Diviners soon! I've had it for quiiiite a while (I actually won a copy from A&U) but every time I see it on the shelf, I'm like, nah. I'll read it later. AND IT JUST HASN'T HAPPENED D:

    1. Ooh, we should buddy read it and see who else has a copy. It's certainly a BIG big read. Gina and I just finished Gone, which was over 500 pages, but both breezed through it. Maybe we could squeeze it in before our group reads start.

  9. Awesome haul Kelly! This is the first I've read of Breaking Butterflies but I'm very excited to hear what you think now! The fact that she's only 18 when she wrote it is very intruiging!

    1. I hope so, I'm going to read it really soon, want to move it up my list. The cover is gorgeous! I've got this obsession with Alice in Wonderland, this is my fourth copy I've bought as they are all slightly different but the illustrated ones are by far the nicest. I'm going to try to read and review one soon.

  12. I'm so happy to see The Diviners in there! I loved that book a lot, even though it was quite lengthy, and I am anticipating the next installment in the series (how many years has it been? It seriously needs to be released soon ToT

In any case, nice haul and thanks for leading me to many interesting posts! Have fun reading, Kelly!!

Glad to see you're reading Alice in Wonderland. ;) Matched? *cringes* OHHHHH. But I have Breaking Butterflies too and I didn't know the author was a teen! That's awesome! I'm pretty excited to read it regardless. x)

  16. Your partner is going to put in you a group for shopaholics Kelly! 25 books is crazy but I love it! Everything you pick, I get the thoughts of ‘ohh I wonder what she will think of that, maybe she will love it and then I'll need to buy it too!’ I guess it is what I deserve for putting you on a classic’s spree!
