Stacking The Shelves & Weekly Wrap #010

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online bookshops, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course eBooks. Hosted by Tyngas Reviews.

News

●  This week I nabbed author Sarah Fine and Walter Jury, who under his real name produced the Divergent movie. Stop by next week to read the full interview and how they were able to collaborate to write SCAN.
●  Cait from The Notebook Sisters won a paperback ARC of SCAN. It's in the mail Cait, happy reading!
●  In unrelated news, the hot, dry weather has brought me ants. Apparently a delicacy in some countries, but not in my kitchen you little bastards. They seem to be wandering around aimlessly, as there are no crumbs, a clean floor and we've been fumigated against them, so how do I show them the door? Suggestions welcomed.
●  And stop by on the 2nd of February for an Aussie and New Zealand giveaway of Bird by Crystal Chan, thanks to Text Publishing. It's the middle grade equivilant of John Green's The Fault in our Stars.

  1. I have been wanting to read Vampire Academy, so I can't wait to hear your thoughts.

Sorry to hear about the ants! Wish I had some advice. :)

    1. Hey Jess and thanks for popping by. The ants are horrible, but since I woke up to an ant free kitchen this morning, I'll take the small victories where I can.

I tried to read Vampire Academy in late 2012, but really couldn't get into it, so bought the paperback hoping it might engage me more than the Kindle edition. For me, eBooks don't hold the same magic and I'm more likely to ditch them quicker. Hoping second time's a charm.

  2. I'm just reading Bird now and my golly it is a sad one! Really packs a punch in its small length! I am SUPER excited that you have finally purchased VA, have you read the series yet? I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to read the Divergent producer's interview, I can't believe you nabbed that one!

    1. Can't wait to read your thoughts Jeann. I just posted up my review and absolutely adored Bird, it was brilliant. I haven't read the Vampire Academy series, I tried a little more than a year ago, but couldn't get through the first book. I'm determined to try again.

  3. Ew, the ants. YES. What is their problems?!! Our house gets so many ants we're spraying them before breakfast. It's really awful. :/ And I'm BEYOND excited for Scan...hehe. But you already know that. ;) I can't wait to know what you think of Vampire Academy! I'm seeing promos for the movie everywhere, but I haven't actually heard much about the series and if it's good. :) My StS!

    1. Oh Cait, I feel you. They seem to be most active overnight. Luckily our newest little friends have all been relegated to the one area and this morning, after much spraying and sealing and meditating, I haven't found any. I'm praying for rain, hopefully the little bastards won't have a reason to visit.

Dare I say, by the time I get around to reading it, the Vampire Academy movie will probably be seen as retro. I'm hoping I'll enjoy it more the second time around. If not, expect an incredibly whiny review.

    1. Hey Shaheen, thanks for stopping by. I've been ant free for two days now. High fives all 'round. Unfortunately we live in an urban rural area without rain for quite a while, so the ants seem to invite themselves in like I'm running a resort.

I can't wait to start Tandem, been wanting to read this one for months now.

  5. Oh noes, ants! Ewwww. I think there are these things out there that's sugary but really it's a trap for the ants. I'm not sure if they work though. o_o

    1. Hey Sophia, lovely to see you again.
Yeah, they have some sort of ant trap that is meant to attract them, they take the poison back to their nest and supposedly wipe them all out. Luckily we seem to be ant free for now, so fingers crossed I won't need to test out that theory.
