The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa: ARC Review

In Allison Sekemoto's world, there is one rule left: Blood calls to blood.

She has done the unthinkable: died so that she might continue to live. Cast out of Eden and separated from the boy she dared to love, Allie will follow the call of blood to save her creator, Kanin, from the psychotic vampire Sarren. But when the trail leads to Allie's birthplace in New Covington, what Allie finds there will change the world forever-and possibly end human and vampire existence.

There's a new plague on the rise, a strain of the Red Lung virus that wiped out most of humanity generations ago-and this strain is deadly to humans and vampires alike. The only hope for a cure lies in the secrets Kanin carries, if Allie can get to him in time.

Allison thought that immortality was forever. But now, with eternity itself hanging in the balance, the lines between human and monster will blur even further, and Allie must face another choice she could never have imagined having to make.

In this second installment in the Blood Of Eden series, we see Allie being asked to leave Eden, the human sanctuary and leaving Zeke without saying goodbye. She needs to find Kanin, her sire, before he is killed. She can feel his blood calling to her, her usually dreamless nights tormented with Kanin's bloody body and the feeling of being starved to death.

With the need to rescue Kanin and knowing Zeke is safe in Eden, she forges on. With cannibalistic underground humans and rabids to kill, the fight of her life will begin with the unstable vampire Sorren. What she didn't bet on was Jackal.

When humans and vampires alike start turning with a new strain of the deadly red lung, time is running out to find a cure. She must return to the vampire city that she once called home, luckily she has two allies along for the ride... If they don't kill another first.

I want to start by thanking Emma at Morey Media for being so utterly fabulous and sending me an advanced reading copy to continue this incredible series.

Even the horrid characters are likeable, from the sarcastic and often barbaric Jackal to the bat shit crazy Sorren. Gone are the days of flamboyant, sexually disoriented vampires that sparkle in the sun wearing chastity belts. Julie Kagawa has created an incredible dystopian, supernatural society with a strong female heroine.

I heart you Julie Kagawa. Lady, you rock my socks off.

    1. Hi Sapir and thanks for your comment.

You should also read the story by Julie Kagawa in 'Til The World Ends. It is the backstory of the Red Lung virus, and tells the story of Kylie and Ben (from the farm where the group searching for Eden stayed), and how the rabids came to be.
