News

●  Vote for me in the Best Australian Blogs competition Here
●  I've decided to amuse myself by following obscure former celebrities on Twitter. Feel free to make a suggestion in the comments section below.
●  The Divergent movie was released in Australia this week and it looks incredible. For those of you are still undecided whether or not to catch it on the big screen...

Publisher Paperbacks

Evertrue by Brodi Ashton. I absolutely love this series and can't wait to read the last installment.
●  Year of the Rat by Clare Furniss sounds like a heartbreaking and emotional journey, no doubt I'll need the tissues for this one. With thanks both to the incredible Simon and Schuster Australia.
●  What happens when your uncle is good old Adolf Hitler? I have no idea, but can't wait to find out in the Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman. With thanks to the superb Hachette Australia. Stay tuned, I have an extra copy to give away coming up soon!

Digital Review Copies

●  Storm by Brigid Kemmerer courtesy of the publisher via Netgalley. I've been itching to read this series, so seeing it available on Netgalley was clearly a sign that I need to move it up my list.
●  Falling from the Sky by Nikki Godwin. I was super lucky to have conned Nikki into sending me a digital copy to review. American Girl on Saturn was one of my favorite top five reads of last year, so when I seen Nikki on Twitter asking about tour hosts, I pounced. Pushing this one up to read next week, as part of Laura's LGBT month over at Laura Plus Books.

Won and Purchased

●  I rarely win anything, so when Mands from The Bookish Manicurist emailed me and said, you've won my giveaway, I gave her a huge virtual smooch and high fived the dog. Side Effects may Vary sounds incredible, check out her review Here, and those nails! Phenomenal.
●  The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey is one of my favourites, so bought the paperback to add to my shelves.
●  The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor by Robert Kirkman. With around five months until the fifth season of The Walking Dead begins I've decided to read a few of the novels. Word is, they aren't as great as the series but who cares, it's The Walking Dead, right?

What are you stacking your shelves with this week?

  1. What a great haul! :) I just read Everbound this week and I can't wait to finish the trilogy! The only thing is that quite many people have apparently been disappointed with Evertrue which makes me a bit worried. Hopefully, both of us will enjoy it! I've been meaning to read the 5th Wave for ages and I've heard so many good things about Prisoner of Night and Fog. :) Happy reading and have a great weekend!

    1. Ooh, looking forward to reading your review Sofia. I've heard the same thing, but I think with any series finale, you'll have an ending that isn't going to please everyone. I hope it's just a case of fussy readers.

The 5th Wave is incredible, I loved it passionately, but it's another one of those books where readers either love it or just don't get the hype. Grab a copy though, I have a feeling you'll really enjoy it.

  2. I've got The Walking Dead on my bookshelf waiting to be read after I catch up with the TV series! Love the covers for Storm and Falling from the sky. Nice book haul, enjoy!

    1. I actually only discovered The Walking Dead a few months ago, and watched the series like a woman possessed. Actually, author Christina Channelle got my hooked on it and I managed to catch up as the season finale aired in the US. The books are a mixture of the series storyline and comics I think, but with new characters.

Apparently they are creating a spin off series, another Walking Dead with different characters.

  3. I can't wait for you to see Divergent! Your selection of books this week is awesome :) I've had 5th Wave and Side Effects. Is reading TWD better than watching it?

    1. Not sure yet Dre, I haven't been able to start it, haven't actually seen any reviews for the paperbacks either. If you see one, please let me know.

    1. Thanks Mel. I can't wait to start Evertrue, I've loved the series so far, but a little hesitant as to how it'll all wrap up. The early reviews haven't been too complementary sadly.

  5. I read The Prisoner of Night and Fog probably like 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed it - I loved how it blended fiction and fact very well and seamlessly. The 5th Wave is so amazing, right?
Happy reading and have a wonderful weekend!

  10. Maybe I need to start watching the Walking Dead. Have been looking for a show to watch since I've finished all the shows I normally watch.

I really enjoyed Side Effects May Vary (and I love Mandy's blog. her manicures are incredible. It's like wearable art!) but I know it's not to everyone's liking. I hope you are one of those who enjoy it.

    1. I tell you Kate, it's awesome! I only started watching reruns a few months ago and caught up on four seasons to make the season finale. I can read about it, but generally don't like a lot of blood and gore, but after a few episodes, the shock value wears off.

Another one I love is Revolution. It's what happens when the entire planet loses electricity. Definitely check it out if you can.

  14. I voted for you! Crossing my fingers for you - I <3 your blog!

I'm reading Prisoner of Night and Fog right now, and I'm LOVING it, so I'm really excited to see what you think of it!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you think of Side Effects May Vary, as I've heard a lot of mixed reviews for it. Personally, The 5th Wave was kind of "meh" for me, but I know a lot of my blogging friends loved it, so I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for your review on that!

Thanks for sharing and great haul!

    1. I've already read The 5th Wave, but have been backdating my paperbacks and buying the ones I've really enjoyed. Nearly everything I buy on Kindle these days, so it's nice to have the paperbacks too.

Can't wait to see your review of the Prisoner of Night and Fog, I'm lucky enough to be able to give an extra copy away as well. Thanks for voting Zoe, it means so much.

    1. I was totally stoked Mands, apart from one on Goodreads, I've never won a YA book giveaway. I was over the moon!

I can't wait to see it. I've been trying to avoid movie reviews, but as I'll be seeing it with my other half, I may need to give him a quick crash course on all things Divergent.

  16. Awesome haul! I recently got hooked on the Walking Dead and I completely caught up in two weeks. I just started reading the comics and they're pretty good; I didn't know they're were books too! I may have to check those out. I hope you enjoy all of your books. :)

    1. Thanks Krystianna. I was exactly the same, only recently discovered The Walking Dead and took me around two months to watch all four seasons. I only regret not giving into the hype and watching the series sooner. I haven't seen any of the comics, I had a look on eBay, and they start from around the hundreds in editions, did you start from the first edition?

    1. Me too Jeann. I got it to see what it's like before buying the rest of the paperbacks in the series. I'm really trying to fill in time before season five starts. It's going to be too long a wait, and I've just discovered the series. I can't imagine how you must be feeling waiting for it.

Psst. I'll be giving away a copy of Prisoner of Night and Fog shortly. Another Aussie only giveaway.

  18. Okay, truth be told, I am terribly excited for you to read Storm by Brigid Kemmerer. That author knows how to write a male voice, seriously. Storm is pretty good, but the rest of the series is even better, each installment featuring another male voice from the cast of characters. I loved all of them and I hope you do, too. Have fun reading your haul!

  21. Great haul! I have Evertrue, but still haven't gotten around to reading it. I need to do that soon. I'm on the blog tour for Prisoner of Night and Fog later this week, so that will be the first book I read today. The concept intrigues me and I'm anxious to start it. I still need to read The 5th Wave, but I've heard nothing but fantastic things about it. I have the audiobook version. Maybe I'll start that soon. :)

    1. I think so, not sure if they settled on a cast yet though. Book two comes out in September, so you still have a few months to read up. I just loved it, and can't wait for the next in the series.

I'll see it over the Easter weekend I think, and yeah, I won't be reviewing it either. Might mention it as part of my weekly news, but I think it's pretty much all been said and done.

  24. Gah I've been wanting to start the Everneath series for aaages and I still haven't gotten to it yet. I love the covers for all those books in the series. Prisoner of Night and Fog & The Year Of The Rat both sound really interesting, and quite different to the usual YA. And YAY for winning the giveaway! I haven't read that one yet, and although I've heard a lot of people found the main character a little annoying, it seems to getting pretty great reviews!

    1. Definitely move it up the list Amy, book one completely sucked me into the series. It's a strange kind of mythology fictional mix. Typical YA romance with a semi sort of love triangle, but entertaining. Gosh, I'm not selling it very well am I.
