Stacking The Shelves #019

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online bookshops, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course eBooks. Hosted by Tyngas Reviews.

Short and sweet edition of Stacking the Shelves this week.

●  I haven't been online much, with undergoing a major backgarden renovation at home. So please let me know your news and bookish tidbits you've heard.

Purchased Paperbacks

Scholastic Australia were having a huge sale, so thought it was a great time to pick up my first classics to start my library, and what better to begin with than Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz. Have wanted to read The Maze Runner for quite a while, so nabbed a copy while I was online.

Gifted Paperbacks

Through our incredible Australian Young Adult Bloggers Goodreads group, the fabulous Tez had a few books to offload. I was able to nab these beauties.

Aftertime by Sophie Littlefield. The Uninvited by Liz Jensen. The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith. Death Sentence (Escape from Furnace: Book Three) and Solitary (Escape from Furnace: Book Two) by Alexander Gordon Smith. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter and Reboot by Amy Tintera. The only one I've read is Reboot, but loved it and wanted a paperback copy.

What are you stacking your shelves with this week?

  1. I turned notifications for the group off without realising and missed it! :'( I didn't notice until you guys were talking about it on Twitter and then it was too late. >< Hopefully you guys will do something like this again! I'd love to participate. Not much going on with me recently (except there's a LGBT Month Twitter chat at 11pm if you're still awake hehee, shameless plugs ♥). Good luck with your garden renovations! And of course, happy reading!

    1. The book swap? Just stop by the group Laura, there are still plenty on offer and more being listed. I have a few more to go through as well.

Damn, I missed the Twitter chat, this garden is keeping me super busy, but should be back to normal and hoping to catch up on everyone's blogs next week.

    1. I think it's either one of those books that will blow your socks off, or leave you feeling a little meh at the hype. I hope I fall within the first category.

You forgot to link to your post Brit: http://nicegirlsreadbooks.com/discussion-dnf-reviews-and-why-you-wont-find-them-here/ Jeann put up a post in the YA group to add our discussion post links, which is awesome to be able to pick out a best of the book web posts.

    1. Thanks Abby. I was thrilled to have been able to grab Alice in Zombieland too, after reading Splintered and Unhinged, I want to read as many retellings now as possible. Except Cinder, I just couldn't get into that one.

  4. Oh wow! What a great haul Kelly! <3 I can't wait to see what you think of all these! Especially The Maze Runner (I read this one a while back and while I didn't like it due to the lack of world-building, I know TONS of other reviewers did like it, so I'm interested in seeing what you think!) and The Geography of You and Me as I've heard a lot of favorable reviews on that one!

And yeah! Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz! It's always great to read some classics once in a while! (*Cough* Well, I'm working on it, okay? xD)

Thanks for sharing Kelly & happy reading! :D

    1. Just between you and me Zoe, I've never read any of the classics either. I wanted to start with the easier ones. Not sure I'll ever get around to reading Jane Austen, but it's a start.

    1. I loved it too, it was brilliant wasn't it. I can't wait to read Rebel either. The Geography of You and Me sounds awesome, I'll be reading that in the next fortnight, have you read that one?

  7. ALICE IN ZOMBIELAND. Because of my (subtle) infatuation with all things Wonderland, I want to read the zombieland version now. Although, I HAVE heard mixed things about it. *shrugs* Never know until you read, eh? x) And I NEED to read The Maze Runner! BEFORE THE MOVIE.

    1. We're like two peas in a pod, I'm itching to read it to carry on the Wonderland theme that Splintered and Unhinged created. It's too long until book three, so I'm going to slowly make my way through all the retellings. I know it won't be as enchanting as The Moth, but hopefully it comes close.

  8. I really need to get The Maze Runner series read as I've heard so many good things about it. I've got a couple of books in the Furnace series to read as well and it sounds really good. Too many books and too little time at the moment...Happy reading!

  11. That version of The Maze Runner is so pretty! I've read it and really enjoyed it, so I'm excited for the movie. I have The Geography of You and Me but keep putting it off. >< Alice in Zombieland and Reboot were both super boring for me, so I really hope they work out better for you! <3

    1. Hey Aimee, I can't wait to read it either. It looks awesome! I really enjoyed Reboot, I love my dystopians, but I've seen quite a few mixed reviews for Alice in Zombieland, so hopefully I fall on the side that enjoys it. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Hey Faye, I luuuuurved the first one in the series. Couldn't agree more, it was super creepy and so dark considering it was young adult and the age of the characters. I can't wait to continue the series with the two new books I nabbed. Have you read the entire series?

    1. I've only read one of her books so far, but absolutely loved it. It was so quirky and really engaging. I've got her three big releases now in paperback.

I have no idea when the movie is coming out, have to check to make sure I read mine in time too.
