What happens when that book you've been waiting to be released... Is never actually released? If you're anything like me, I go hunting for an explanation as to why. Tweeting an author, checking their website, even comments on the unreleased book page on Goodreads. Have you been waiting on a book that is seemingly never going to be released? Today I'm sharing mine...
Underground by Gretchen Powell. The second book in the Terrestrials series. Terra was released back in late 2012 and I absolutely loved it. Incredibly unique, it tells the story of two classes of citizens. The wealthy who live in skybound cities, while the poor and destitute live on the dying earth. It was brilliant, but there's been no news on why it's been delayed apart from a brief post on the authors blog in November 2013 stating
I’ve been a bit lackadaisical in my writing, but that’s all about to change. Bring it November! I'm coming for you.
November of 2013 brought it, but sadly a year later the book still isn't out.
Stuck By Samantha Durante. The Stitch Trilogy has been a favourite read of mine, with the second installment Shudder having been released in June 2013. The great news is that the author is set to release Stuck during 2015 and I for one can't wait. She can be forgiven for becoming a mummy and not writing the series finale. Only just though.
The untitled Warm Bodies Sequel by Isaac Marion. Warm Bodies was released back in 2010, and the sequel announced in 2012 and we've been waiting ever since. But fear not Zombie lovers, the author has issued a vague update just to keep us all in a state of excitement
I'm about 70% of the way through writing it and expect to finish in early 2015. It's going to be a much bigger book, it's already 60 pages longer than Warm Bodies, and a much bigger story. I'm not ready to say much about the plot yet, but here are a few questions that I've been asking myself since I wrote warm bodies...
What will life be like for R as a new human? How will he fit into society? How will such an alienated social infant handle a romantic relationship? Will he remember his past, and what will that do to the new person he's trying to become?
If I don't see this releasing in 2015, I'm coming for you Isaac Marion.
Iniquity by Amy A. Bartol. Book five and hopefully the last in The Premonition angel series. Another one where book four was released in 2012, but now the author has seemingly abandoned it. In the meantime, there have been teasers and readers are steered towards her new series instead. The series had been left as three potential suitors for the main character. I need closure, not a shiny new series to distract me. I can't help but feel it's now a marketing ploy after reading this on the author's site.
I also know it's been forever since I published a Premonition series book. It's been almost two years. That's a long time. I know. I'm sorry. Feel free to let me know in the comments your feelings on this. I get at least one person taking me to task for it every day on one or more of my social media sites. It's daunting, but it's doubtless that I deserve it. I have been writing, but it's not always this series that gets my attention... If you're dying for more from me to fill the time in between the next Premonition book, and you haven't read Under Different Stars yet, here are some links to check it out...Just give us the finale and allow us to move on.
Truth by Jus Accardo. I love Jus Accardo, her books are sweet, sassy and entertaining. But I've been waiting for this one through five other releases. I understand that authors don't want to keep working on the same projects, and they're human too believe it or not. I feel for their personal downfalls, but don't expect this one out in 2015 either sadly.
I haven’t given up on Dez and Kale. I promise. I know some people are concerned because I seem to have moved on, but the thing is, I’m a fast writer. I love my job so much, that I find it hard to walk away sometimes. Writing is my escape. My sanity. The Denazen series was originally contracted as three books. Before book three was even written, I’d already finished Darker Days and Rules of Survival, as well as half of Ruined and rough drafts on several others.Well, okay then.
Dez and Kale are rooted deep in my heart. Although book 4 was written, I strongly feel like I need to take another look at it. To give you anything but what I believe to be the best would be unfair to you, and them. Because release dates are scheduled in advance, this is why the book will not be out in 2015.
Untitled by Shana Abe. The final book in The Sweetest Dark series. Book two, The Deepest Night was released in August 2013 but still no word on the series finale but a brief snippet from the authors website
The Sweetest Dark Series starts with, of course, The Sweetest Dark. The second book in this series is The Deepest Night. I’m currently writing the third book and no, I’m not telling you the title. Because I haven't figured it out yet.
I loved this series, if you're looking for a dragon themed series, these are far more entertaining than Talon. But we need book three or I'll be forced to start furiously writing letters of complaint.
The Foretelling of Georgie Spider by Ambelin Kwaymullina. Book three in The Tribe series is one of my most anticipated reads. Although it's only been a little over a year since the last installment was released, the date set for the latest book was 2014 according to Goodreads, but with no cover or synopsis, it seems this one is further away than promised.
Tether by Anna Jarzab. I really enjoyed Tandem and have been eagerly anticipating the sequel all year. Only recently has the title been updated to a 2015 release. But it seems that some reviewers have already receiver advanced copies. I may need to pop over for a friendly chat. Just let me rent a car first.
What 2014 releases have you been anticipating that you're still waiting for?
Next week, the worst dodgy covers of 2014.
It may just be the longest post in history.
