Tweet Of The Week

Publisher Review Paperbacks and Hardcovers

The Summer of Kicks written by Dave Hackett. An accidental band. A record store. A pair of shoes and two perfect girls. This is going to be one hell of a summer. Thank you to UQP.
Roses are Blue by Sally Murphy and illustrated by Gabriel Evans. A beautiful middle grade book about the importance of family and a brilliant example of diversity. I've just finished this one and it was so incredibly charming. Look out for my author interview during the blog tour. Thank you to Walker Books Australia.
●  The Jewel by Amy Ewing. I'm so incredibly excited for this one, I love my young adult dystopian. The synopsis sounds like a mixture of The Selection and The Winner's Curse. A big thank you to Walker Books Australia.
●  Rich Kids of Instagram by Maya Slone. Despite the less than favorable early reviews, I'm keen to give this one a read. Taken from the top contributors of a blog that showcases their entitled lives, check out the Tumblr page of how the other half live. With thanks to Simon and Schuster Australia.
●  Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater. I really enjoyed the Wolves of Mercy Falls series, having read it a few years ago. Now, we can follow Cole. This one can also be read as a standalone. Loved the hardcover. Thank you to Scholastic Australia.
●  Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead. This one was a fantastic surprise this week. I actually own the first four in the Bloodlines series, but haven't read them yet. Book five has given me the perfect excuse for a readathon for the series and have been itching to see what all the fuss is about. Thank you to Penguin Teen Australia.

Purchased Paperbacks and Hardcovers

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige. I'm such a huge fan of The Wizard of Oz and can't wait to start this one soon. Or soonish.
Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins. Picked up a gorgeous hardcover to read for our Aussie YA Bloggers group read. Strangely, the Kindle edition isn't available in Australia yet.
Sweet Damage by Rebecca James. Big fan of Rebecca and her antics on Twitter, and this has been described as an incredible thriller. Reading this one over the weekend.

What are you up to this weekend and will there be cake involved?

    1. I was surprised too Jeann. I have all the books in the series so far, but haven't started reading them as yet. I'm powering through all my review copies at the moment, then hoping to read them all through over a week of Bloodlines.

  2. SINNER! *flails wildly* That book, omg, I dropped everything and just devoured it as soon as I got it out of the packaging. It. was. so GOOD. I'm happy. And I'm pretty keen for Rebel Belle! It's next on the TBR in preparation for Monday. ^.^ This is like the first ever book club thing I've done so I'm EXCITED.

    1. I've only had a couple of buddy reads with Gina, so I'm super excited to start the group read as well. I'm planning on sticking to a few chapters per day, and read other books along with it. I can't wait to start Sinner either, but saving it until closer to the release date.

    1. Me either. It looks pretty good though, the premise reminds me of The Selection, but sounds a little more grittier than just a romantic meat auction.

    1. No, YOU rock Zoe.
I love the Wizard of Oz and as soon as my review reads are up to date, I'll definitely be starting it. Jeann enjoyed it too, so I can imagine it'll make the favourites shelf.

    1. Don't tell the other Aussie YA bloggers, but I couldn't wait and started reading it tonight, it's not too bad, but hoping it picks up. Rebel Belle seems to be one of those books that most thought was okay, but not fantastic. I'm hoping Iike it a whole lot more.

    1. Can you read Bloodlines, without having finished the Vampire Academy series? I probably should confirm that before I start. I've read Vampire Academy, but haven't had time to start from the second book onwards.

  9. I received The Summer of Kicks as well - looks fantastic! I loved Dave Hackett's younger books as well. Plus the cover is yellow, and yellow is obviously the best colour there is. Roses are Blue looks good as well. I also hope you like Dorothy Must Die, because I really did :)

FANTASTIC HAUL, Kelly! And someone really needs to bitch slap the dude who won't let marriage equality be a thing (in Australia).

  12. You have so many awesome books at your disposal, Kelly! I can't deny that I'm jealous of your physical copies, but I'm still so excited to see what you think of them! That cover of The Jewel looks really awesome, too O.O

And sorry about that Tony Abott thing. I've been hearing and reading all over the net he's not exactly a cool dude. >_< I wish he would see how much marriage equality is needed in your community!
