Tweet Of The Week

Publisher Paperbacks

Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant. I was thrilled when this arrived as an unbound and uncorrected proof. Those are always super special. I'm a big fan of Michael Grant since my first buddy read with Gina from Behind The Pages. Thank you to Hardie Grant Egmont.
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. This sounds incredible! Have been itching to grab a copy of this one. Any synopsis that ends with, 'And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE', well, you've sold me. Thank you to Allen and Unwin.
Four: A Divergent Story Collection by Veronica Roth.I loved both Divergent and Insurgent, and wish we could have seen Four's point of view much earlier. His voice is much more engaging than Tris. I've already read and reviewed it here, and make sure for my fellow Aussies and New Zealanders, scroll down for the giveaway. Thank you to Harper Collins Australia.

Purchased Paperbacks and Hardcovers

A big thank you to Jeann and Kristy who told me that Bookworld was having a sale. Not being able to resist a bargain, I snapped up a few more of the Penguin Clothbound Classics. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott and Mansfield Park by Jane Austen.
From a local online bookshop, I picked up two more in the Penguin English Library series by the same book cover designer, The War of the Worlds by H. G Wells and Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift.

They're so pretty and look lovely on my shelves.

  1. Wheee, now I have an all-new feature to look forward to~ Awesome books as always, Kelly, and I can't wait to hear your thoughts about Messenger of Fear. I have a swell feeling it will be great, knowing how well this author writes. Also that Dumpling-DimSim mix-up was so funny! :)) I think I chuckled for a minute or two. I don't know if I ever made that mistake, but I hope when I do, nobody is there to catch it. And thanks for mentioning our Readathon!!!

  2. Oh those Penguin Clothbound Classics are just gorgeous! I need to buy more. Considering getting Pride and Prejudice but I might get the Barnes & Nobles leather edition of that.
We Were Liars!!! I saw you just finished that, what did you think of it?

    1. The B&N leatherbound classics are absolutely stunning! I'm really tempted to collect those too.

We Were Liars, incredible! It's book of the year so far for me. It's short, sharp read that completely blew me away. I can't wait to see what you think of it. It's phenomenal.

  3. Oh my, those are pretty spines Kelly! I really hope publishers would distribute those kinds of books here in the PH too. :)

I really should come up with a weekend feature now too. All I do is review books and comment on other people's discussion. I better make mine haha! You just gave me an idea! :D

    P.S.
I'm still lurking at your Four review post. :p

    1. They're all bought copies, I wish we'd get those as review copies here too.
I nabbed the idea from Jeann (who I asked first), as she branched out to do her own version of Stacking The Shelves too. I rarely leave my link on the meme, so it made sense just to go it alone really.

  4. Oh my gosh Kelly, those spines are so incredibly beautiful! It looks like your collection of clothbound classics has grown, I'll have to take a pic of mine too! That tweet from Jaz is hilarious lol

    1. Ooh, for those who don't know Tonya, she's the author of The Love Oracles, awesome series. Check her out here http://www.tonyaalexandra.com/

I love the smell of a paper book, there;s nothing quite like it. I read my share of eBooks too though, but more so for convenience. Books are really an investment to read over and over again.

      Thanks for popping by Tonya.

  6. Those cloth ones...omg, they're the most beautiful things of ever. Especially AiW. Not that, of course, I have a Thing for AiW. No, no. I definitely don't. Although: FLAMINGOS. Messenger of Fear, though?!! EEEH SO AWESOME. XD It's a highly anticipated one for me because: Michael Grant. x)

    1. Me either. I only own seven copies of it now. I think I may be slightly obsessed. I stress the word slightly though. The jury is still out on that one. I can't wait to sink into Messenger of Fear, it looks incredible.

  7. EEEEK thanks so much for mentioning Wanderland! *dies of happiness* Hopefully one day it can be an Actual Real Book. Also, those cloth-bound books are SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL. Especially, as Cait said, Alice in Wonderland. Obviously. There are some Barnes and Noble leather-bound editions that I've been eyeing for some time...as soon as my book-buying ban is over I'm SO snapping them up! :)

    1. I absolutely loved it. I would love to read more.
The B&N editions are beautiful, but so pricey. I prefer the clothbound ones a little more though, they just have a special softness to them and look awesome on my timber shelves.

  8. A great idea, Kelly. That cover of Messenger Of Fear I like better than the red one I saw. I haven't read Michael Grant before but 'm interested in that one. Those classics are beautiful and they do look really nice lined up like that on your shelf. I look forward to next week's Diva Weekender.

  9. Whoo, I got all three of those review copies as well! I love the look of Messenger of Fear, it's my first real Uncorrected Proof looking review copy, especially with the fragile on the spine and the paper covering. Ohh, those classics look amazing, especially altogether. Great haul this week, loving the new feature! :D

Thanks Gina, I seen Jeann did it too and it finally gave me the push to go out on my own too.

  10. I saw the new Bloodlines stuff and omg I'm fangirling so much and I swear, I don't even fangirl that much. I love it though! It was so cool to see the behind the scenes.

So many cool things to add to your shelves! I hope you have an amazing reading week. :D And yay for a new feature!

    1. It's funny, I own all the current books, but haven't read them yet. Can you read them without having read all the Vampire Academy releases?

  11. Ah I must get my hands on some of those clothbound classics, mainly so I can just sit and stare at their prettiness on the bookshelf and occasionally stroke them. Ooo and We Are Liars sounds so intriguing...I'm planning on starting it soon too, although I've been warned not to read it on public transport for some reason, mmmm we shall see! Love the new feature Kelly <3
