Two years before Beatrice Prior made her choice, the sixteen year old son of Abnegation’s faction leader did the same. His transfer to Dauntless is a chance to begin again. Here, he will not be called the name his parents gave him. He will not let fear turn him into a cowering child.

Newly christened as Four, he discovers during initiation that he will succeed in Dauntless. Initiation is only the beginning, though; Four must claim his place in the Dauntless hierarchy. His decisions will affect future initiates as well as uncover secrets that could threaten his own future, and the future of the entire faction system.

Two years later, Four is poised to take action, but the course is still unclear. The first new initiate who jumps into the net might change all that. With her, the way to righting their world might become clear. With her, it might become possible to be Tobias once again.

He's been labelled as sultry, the ultimate book boyfriend, and a tattooed, brooding bad boy that fights for what he believes in. Now fans of the Divergent series can delve further into Four's world with never released scenes, and Four's own journey into Dauntless. Includes the series of short stories from the Divergent Collection, The Transfer, The Initiate, The Son, Free Four and The Traitor. It also includes three new scenes told from Tobias's point of view.

Four's story begins days before his Choosing ceremony. Still living under the rule of his abusive father, the council leader and one of the most prominent men in Abnegation. His only chance at freedom is to send a message, and with the knife he uses to cut his palm during the ceremony, he chooses Dauntless and is initiated into the fold.

We follow Four into his Dauntless training, his simulations and how he came by the nickname Four. He is struggling to live up to the expectations of his new Fraction, even though he is excelling at the top of his group. He begins to see the cracks forming within their society, when Jeanine Matthews takes an unlikely interest in the Fear Simulations. Refusing to become a leader, the title is given to Eric, who uses brutality to train and educate the new arrivals, including former Abnegation transfer Tris.

Discovering what Jeanine Matthews has in store for the new world, and Tris's results during the simulation test... And discovering that his need to protect her may be what puts them both in danger.

I thoroughly enjoyed Four's voice and point of view more than the actual series, and both Divergent and Insurgent I absolutely adored. I suspect at this point most of are probably not paying attention to me, but rather Theo James in the shower below.

Yes, you can thank me later. It doesn't matter what I say at this point, the images alone will make you want to purchase Four, it's a brilliant little read for fans of the Divergent series and all those who want to see Four's beginnings, and the thoughts behind the brooding book boyfriend.

For those in Australia and new Zealand, Harper Collins Australia is not only giving one lucky person a copy of the young adult edition of Four, but a signed Veronica Roth bookplate. To take Four home with you, just enter via Rafflecopter below and good luck.

Ummm, book boyfriend that I'd like to see brought to screen....eeeks that's hard, though, I AM looking forward to the Graceling movie because, ONE WORD: PO. *screams* Except, I'm really worried that they're going to completely mess him up, and I don' know if my heart will be able to bear that :(

  3. I lovveee Theo James in Divergent. I don't know if I like Four though. Allegiant kind of majorly ruined the series for me to the point that I don't know if I really want to read it. I mean, I know how everything ends and reading a scene in a different POV doesn't interest me. Anyway, interesting to see you liked it more than the actual series. Also, love the gifs!

    1. Same same. It really destroyed my love for the series, but I absolutely adored Four (apart from how whiny he became in Allegiant), and couldn't wait to see his point of view. It was actually far more engaging than the series as Tris tells the storyline.

  4. Book boyfriend I want to see on screen - Levi from Rainbow Rowell's 'Fangirl'. I love cute, dorky country boys - especially fictional ones!

  7. I really want to read FOUR, as he is pretty much my favourite character in this series (even if I STILL haven't read Allegiant - eep! I just keep hearing not-so-great things, which scares me).

I like the fact that we get to know Four before he really becomes Four and meets Tris. I always wonder what book boyfriends are like before they are the boyfriend.

As for your question, I desperately want to see Adrian Ivashkov on the big screen. He is an amazing book boyfriend. But they would have to get him right, because he's too perfect.

    1. It's the whole mysterious and brooding personality he has going, makes you want to uncover what's behind it. You'll have to take the plunge and read it, I was spoiled by the ending from an inconsiderate Goodreads reviewer, but glad I completed the series.

I'd love to see Arin from the Winner's Curse brought to life.... he's just... oh wow. Also - Mycroft from Every Breath. Yep... just a little obsessed with that series!

    1. I've been so slack and haven't grabbed a copy of Every Breath yet, but it's on my list. Arin! Yes! So would I. The Winner's Curse would make for an incredible movie. Considering how successful it's been so far, it could be a possibility.

  12. Ooh I'm glad that you enjoyed these books, Kelly! I wasn't planning on reading these originally but now that you say that you liked his voice better here than in the books, I am really excited about reading this! Oh and I while this won't happen, I'd want a better version of PJO on screen because the current movies are terribad and the books deserve so much better.

Lovely review! Thanks for the giveaway <33

    1. Fingers crossed that the books are resurrected, maybe one day they might remake them. Did that turn you off the series at all? As a heroine, I wasn't a big fan of Tris, but Four's voice is that much more engaging. I would have loved to have seen all three in the series from dual points of view, I think Allegiant would have gone down with fans a little better then.

  13. Why thank you for the numerous Theo gifs haha

Man, I need to get me a copy of this book. I saw it in the bookstore today, but I only had 20 bucks and had to get a copy of Elantris (Dymocks was all "you can get 200 bonus booklover points if you buy these 5 particular books!" of which Elantris was one, so I was like yeah why not) and so I couldn't get Four. Sad times. Thanks for the giveaway though!

Book boyfriend I'd like to see on screen- Sam from Speechless. He's just so adorkable, and I feel like that book would just make a really nice movie (if done well)

    1. I'm so sad to have to admit that I couldn't get into Throne of Glass, it wasn't really my thing. But knowing how popular it is, I think it'd be epic if it was turned into a movie franchise. Good luck Maddie and thanks for stopping by.

  15. You know your readers well Kelly! Oh my, this review is like a festival of Theo James as Four. This is why I love GIFs. They move, they show seconds of deliciousness, and it never stops moving lol So yeah, thank you lol

You're right, I didn't mind your review at all. Didn't even bother looking at the blurb. I just scrolled up-down-up-down. I can't even form a sensible comment lol

Okay, I'll stop now. *scrolling up*

  17. You have me drooling at these gifs :P I really loved this mini-book, it was a great companion to the Divergent series, even though I've only read Divergent, none of the other series. I'm so happy you enjoyed the main books, I'm definitely going to try continue the series now.
