Stacking The Shelves and Weekly Wrap #025

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online bookshops, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course eBooks. Hosted by Tyngas Reviews.

News

●  To say thanks to the wider book blogger community, I'm giving away a book up to the value of $15.00 from The Book Depository. Winners choice. As long as The Book depository ships to your country, then this one is for you.
●  My fellow Aussies, you've still got time to enter to win a copy of Rebel, book two in the Reboot duology by Amy Tintera. With thanks to Allen and Unwin.
I'm taking a break from Pimpin' Y'all Out this week, and will be back with a new feature next week, where I hide in your bushes and tell the world what you're up to. No, really.

Looky what I got...

A fortnight ago, I featured the stunning paper creations by those Smushy Notebookers who have a store here. I Bought a bouquet of Kusudama flowers, and it was love at first sight.

Publisher Review Copies

Chasing The Valley: Skyfire by Skye Melki Wegner. This one is an eARC and I was absolutely beside myself when Random House sent me an invite link to download. I love this series, and just itching to start this one. Thank you.
The Secret Abyss by Darrell Pitt, book two in the Jack Mason Adventure series. Really quirky middle grade steampunk series that has put my name in lights. Features a grab from my review on the first page, my first publisher review quote.

Shimmer by Paula Weston, book three in the Rephaim series. I haven't read book one or two, but will pick them up soon. Another Aussie author and the series looks pretty good. Thank you to Text Publishing for both paperbacks.

Purchased Paperbacks

●  Innocence by Dean Koontz. Besides no way of being able to pronounce his last name, that doesn't sound like I'm cursing, I'm interested to read this one as so many young adult fans have also enjoyed it.
The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead. I have the first three books in the Bloodlines series, but need to finish the Vampire Academy series first.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Of course I've read the series, but needed the movie edition to add to my paperback collection, alongside the original series.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I own and have read the entire series, apart from The City of Heavenly Fire, but snapped this one up for a future giveaway.
Disruption by Jessica Shirvington. After finally finding a copy months ago, this one was out on sale. Snapped up a copy also to giveaway.
Teardrop by Lauren Kate. They were basically throwing this one out, I have a copy already but thinking of others, want to give this one away too. Stay tuned over the next few months, they'll be giveaways galore.

  1. OMG YOU ARE IN A BOOK!!!! *throws confetti and cake* That's awesome. x) I have my blog name mentioned in the back of Scarlet, sooo that's my mini claim to fame. But actually being quoted?!! Omg, I am in the presence of brilliance. (Buuuut I already knew that.)

Gosh, don't those flowers look amazing. x) Eeehe! Thanks SO SO much for showing them off, Kelly!!!

    1. I love them my little smushy, they're beautiful. Everyone needs a bouquet of smushy goodness. They totally brighten my day.

I actually found out today from another Aussie author, that one of my quotes is used on the back of her soon to be released Bird book in her Chasing The Valley series. I've got an eARC, and it's also on the first page. Two in one week! I don't care how old I am, I'll be printing them off and showing my mum.

  2. Oh my gosh, those paper creations are so beautiful <3 If I had anywhere to put them in my tiny room, I would get some! How exciting that your name is in The Secret Abyss!! I would be so excited if that ever happened to me. And yay, Disruption! Loved that books :)

    1. I was thrilled, and now two books in one week! I'm beside myself. I know we blog for ourselves, but a little tiny piece of me feels validated now. That really shallow little piece. I've so got to set aside time for Disruption, all the hype when it was released, I need to revisit all those reviews and make it a priority read.

    1. Ooh, I haven't read that series. Have you got a review you could link up? Would love to see what you though of it. I only grabbed a few titles for myself and giveaway. Most of the bigger releases like Divergent and The Hunger Games had already been snapped up.

    1. My ass is broke too Joy. You stay home, try to save money because the mortgage and bills almost bleed our accounts dry, and then there's book sales. How do I stop? I NEED INTERVENTION.

I got a first page mention AND a back cover mention this week, quoted alongside The Age newspaper. I've been so excited, trying to show anyone who'll listen.

    1. Thanks Jeann, I was totally stoked.

I did, but read a fair few of these already, so snapped them up to giveaway while I was on there. Actually bought a while heap more, but those were romances I purchased for my mum. I couldn't stomach those.

  6. Nice haul! Dean Koontz is hit or miss for me - he's either completely awesome, or he frustrates me to the point where I can't finish the book.

    1. It'll be my first Dean Koontz novel, so I'm a little hesitant about what to expect. So many rave about his work, which is usually a sure fire way to push me towards disliking it. Fingers crossed.

    1. Thanks Jules. I know I shouldn't, but I feel a stranger sense of having made it now, for whatever that means. An inside cover and a back cover all in the one week.

    1. I know, doesn't it just! Luckily I've got both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire on Blu Ray, but needed to pick up the movie addition of the book to add to my set. Thanks for stopping by Vickie.

  12. I can't wait to see your thoughts on Disruption. SO many of the Aussie bloggers loved it, and they keep saying it's a dystopia that's actually well-written and not generic. That's awesome because most of the books I read from this genre in the past two years have been disappointing :( I hope you like and enjoy these books, Kelly!

    1. It was all those reviews that spurred me into buying my original copy, and I struggled to find it. So when I seen it out cheap online, I had to snap up another. I love my dystopians, by far it's my favourite go to genre when I'm in a book funk.

  13. GAH! Those flowers are amazing! I've never heard of Innocence before, I will definitely check it out, especially because of that pretty cover ;) I haven't read the Bloodlines series as well. I'm only up to the 5th VA book, but only very slowly and when I don't have anything else to read/feel like reading something different. Love this haul!
