The peace treaty with the colonies is on the brink of collapse. A deadly virus has been sweeping through the colonies warfront and now they are after the cure. The very same virus that now president Anden's father had created and experimented on Eden, Day's only surviving brother. June is now working as Anden's closest advisor in the role as Princeps Elect, while Day and brother Eden have left the city under the guise of seeking medical intervention for Eden's sight, while Day's health deteriorates. When June suddenly calls, Day knows that he's being summoned for a reason. The cure the colonies are demanding doesn't exist. The only option the council has at developing a serum, is to bring in one of their test subjects... Something Day will never agree to.
The relationship between day and President Anden is barely an alliance, and hesitant at best. It's been nine months since June and Day have seen one another, and June wishes their reunion was under better circumstances. Anden is more than wiling to exploit Day's weakness where June is concerned, but June has more on her mind than just seeing Day again. As the former Senators that had been plotting to assassinate Anden are tried and convicted, Thomas and Commander Jameson are facing the consequences of their actions. The council has only days to produce a cure, now that the colonies have aligned themselves with Africa, Anden knows his country will be invaded and taken over, it's only a matter of when.
Champion is a worthy ending to a much loved series. Rather than writing a full review, I'd rather keep it short and sweet, as not to spoil the storyline for those who are yet to read the series end. I really appreciate an author who is able to help you remember the previous book in the series, without including long, dreary passages, and Marie Lu's was perfection.
I loved the ending. It wasn't particularly emotional, but enough to leave fans of the series satisfied with a smile.
I thought the series ended in a great way, too. I know a lot of people cried, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who didn't, hah. I think it was appropriately emotional and grave, though, and suits the tone of the books. I'm really looking forward to her new series!

Hey Wendy and thanks for popping by. I had no idea that she's releasing a new series, thanks for letting me know. I loved the way it ended, simple and satisfying. So many authors try to overblow endings and leave the gate open for follow up series, but this one was perfect.
