Too bad about the slow start though. At least it sounds like it has a good representation of mythology!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346215484089416831.post-44491391199180308512014-02-17T06:49:27.904+11:002014-02-17T06:49:27.904+11:00Great Review! There aren't many YA books where the main character comes from such a blended family, I think it's great the author used that in her book. The name Satarial, does make me think of Satan, I wonder if that's intentional.Lolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14284689418552571180noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346215484089416831.post-72577542473790079772014-02-15T23:12:40.229+11:002014-02-15T23:12:40.229+11:00I totally agree Laura. I'm not generally a fan of historical novels, but don't mind a bit of mythology, and I really enjoyed the mix of real and make believe too.Diva Booknerdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17808412083567644984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346215484089416831.post-91321948150771731482014-02-15T23:10:26.581+11:002014-02-15T23:10:26.581+11:00Haymitch with wings. It was really slow to start for me, but I read it in a few sittings. That's a shame that it didn't click with you. I was hoping to hear more about Kaide and Satarial, maybe that might be coming in a spin off?Diva Booknerdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17808412083567644984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346215484089416831.post-45850921611664473682014-02-15T23:03:11.367+11:002014-02-15T23:03:11.367+11:00It's slow to start though, but since they'...It's slow to start though, but since they're already dead, in the afterworld they can only feel pain, broken bones, but they reheal, so torture is just that. It's never ending. The only way they can be maimed, if you chop of a limb, they can't grow a new one. Awesome for clumsy people like me. Thanks for popping by Dre. Especially when it's not boring! I'm glad you still enjoyed it even though it wasn't the best! :DAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03112274983603740211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346215484089416831.post-54338618846512319572014-02-14T21:32:48.329+11:002014-02-14T21:32:48.329+11:00Ooh, I was super keen to read your thoughts! Well ...Ooh, I was super keen to read your thoughts! Well said! Of course, I totally couldn't stand this book (I do feel awful about that... I wanted too. But, ack my brain? It just wanted to explode in boredom). I did like Eduardo best too, although I felt he was just Haymitch with wings. I am intrigued as to what happens during these gladiator-like games, do they get to die again? And good thing that you mentioned that it doesn't include long speeches or boring history lessons. And it's a standalone! Awesome! Dre Wolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12883101727395650627noreply@blogger.com
